Recreational Vehicle owners seeking campgrounds near Disney World have plenty of options. The RV parks in Orlando Florida suitable for theme park visitors are spread in a wide arc from Clermont to Davenport, Kissimmee and Lake Buena Vista itself. From dry camping to full hook ups (FHU) and glamping, there are different campsites for all budgets.
The farthest campground suitable for WDW resort visitors is in Lake Louisa State Park, in Clermont. It is a 25 mile drive on US-27 from WDW. The campsites here are managed by Florida State Parks, and located between Dixie and Hammond Lake. They offer bathhouses, fishing piers and even an amphitheatre. RV owners will find both 30 and 50 amp hook-ups and a dumpsite between the two loops.
The Four Corners aka Citrus Ridge RV parks, also in Clermont, are much closer at 14 miles. It seems a lot closer because most of the distance is covered by World Drive through the WDW resort. Go down a bit to Davenport, and the next set of RV parks is located right at the interstate and US-27 intersection.
To find the next and main lot of campgrounds near Disney, take the I-4 towards WDW, where a huge selection of RV parks can be found strung up in a line in Kissimmee. The row of parks begins at Celebration, and continues on the W Irlo Bronson Highway to Old Vineland Rd and the Municipal Airport. It extends all the way to the Ronald Reagan Turnpike. This is without any doubt the largest collection of WDW campgrounds and RV parks.
Obviously, some of these parks qualify as luxurious Florida RV resort facilities rather just another park for hookups with power and water. RV owners at these resorts can expect high quality glamping, including Laundromats, heated swimming pools, and convenience stores. Some even offer hot and cold baths for pets.
However, real glampers will make a beeline for the Fort Wilderness in Magic Kingdom, inside WDW. Apart from being a real camping area, it is also an “outdoor-themed” hotel stay. The upshot is that RV campers can enjoy air-conditioned bathhouses, high speed internet, cable and private picnic areas with charcoal grills. The best part is the pool, which comes with a whirlpool spa and water slide. Children can enjoy s’mores and themed dining in the company of Disney Toons.
With so much choice, it may be hard to decide between all these campgrounds near Disney. Just focus on what else can be done nearby apart from the theme parks. Anglers and nature lovers may prefer to fish or hike in Lake Louisa State Park, while those renting an RV after landing at Orlando Airport may prefer Kissimmee as a base for exploring Orlando attractions. Glampers need to stick close to WDW, if not actually inside the resort.
